Fish Kichri
Basmati rice and fried fish are combined with a sauce made up of tomatoes, onion, ginger, garlic and a host of other spices to make this aromatic dish.
Ingredients
- 1kg Fish fillet, cut into cubes
- 2 1/2 cups of basmati rice, cooked
- 1 tablespoon cumin powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamon powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 1/4 teaspoon clove powder
- 2 tomatoes cut into cubes
- 4 garlic gloves
- A small piece of ginger
- 1 small onion
- 2 large onion , sliced
- 4 boiled eggs, sliced into round shape
- 2 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
- 2 tablespoon chopped mint leaves
- Oil
- Salt
- Water
Instructions
- Combine the small onion, gloves of garlic and ginger and grind to a fine paste
- Fry the sliced onions until golden brown and reserve
- In the same oil fry the fish cubes, allow to cool and flake into small pieces
- In a large skillet heat 2 tablespoon oil
- Add the tomatoes, onion garlic and ginger paste and stir well
- Add the cumin powder, cinnamon, cardamon and cloves powder
- Stir well and add some water if required
- Add the fish flakes and season with salt
- Gradually add the cooked rice and stir well
- Adjust the seasoning if required
- Turn off the heat and garnish with chopped coriander and mint leaves and sliced boiled eggs
